Introducing Common Projects to The Helm

Common Projects White Achilles Shoes

We’ve been eyeing Common Projects for a while. We’ve walked the showrooms in New York, we’ve read articles about them, we’ve watched for each new seasonal drop, and now we’ve finally brought them to The Helm.

Designed in New York and produced in Italy, Common Projects was founded in 2004 out of a desire to bridge the gap between luxury and casual footwear. Today, they are a cult footwear brand that truly lives up to the hype.

The Common Projects Achilles

Grey Common Projects Achilles Sneaker

Common Projects launched with only one shoe design: The Achilles, available in white, grey, and black. Styled after classic low-top sneakers like Stan Smiths but made using premium materials and techniques, The Achilles were an immediate hit. Today, they’re commonly referred to as the GOAT of classic sneakers.

These shoes are made for the guy who has outgrown his Converse days but still appreciates the easygoing sneaker silhouette. The difference is in the details.

The design is clean and versatile. The outer is made from soft yet durable Nappa leather, and the leather footbed is soft and cloud-like. The stitched sole prevents the rubber from pulling away from the leather, and there’s even a suede heel lining to keep your heel from slipping out. With proper care, these shoes will last you years.

True luxury speaks for itself

Common Projects Suede Hiking Boots

Since launching the Achilles, Common Projects has expanded their offering to include a limited selection of boots, dress shoes, sporty sneakers, and even a women’s line, but they all maintain the simple, understated aesthetic that they became known for with the Achilles.

Their shoes are not flashy or covered in logos, which emphasizes the idea that luxury should really be about how you feel, not about how other people perceive you. In fact, the only external branding on their shoes is their iconic gold foil, 10-digit markings that indicate the shoe style, size, and colour. It’s subtle, but those who know, know.
