Descente - Fashion and function combined
Technical outerwear is not only one of the biggest trends in menswear right now, it’s also incredibly practical. We actually hesitate to call this a trend, because the clean lines, functional fabrics, and incredible workmanship make these pieces from Descente timeless.
“Technical” clothing is designed with a specific functional benefit in mind. Think ski apparel or other sport wear. You’re likely to see elements like moisture-wicking fabrics, reflective patches, waterproofing, purpose-specific pockets, etc.

Hugo - Slim and structured
Another brand we’re excited to welcome to The Helm this season is Hugo. We are all about the minimalist, sophisticated look that Hugo is known for, and their outerwear pieces are a real highlight.
Hugo Boss was founded in 1924 in Germany, focusing primarily on uniforms. They later transitioned to men’s suits in 1948, and have since grown their brand to become the fashion empire they are today.
We’re excited to be carrying a selection of items from their Hugo line, which has previously been known as their Red label. Hugo is intended to be a more adventurous, fashion-forward division of the brand, featuring clean designs and a tailored casual feel.
Their moto-style leather jacket is truly a versatile piece that can be worn year-round. Silver zips and detailed stitching adds a bit of an edge, but the trim cut and minimalist accessories keep the lines clean and simple. We love it with a roll neck sweater underneath.
Hugo's overcoat also keeps with the streamlined look, with its narrow lapels, high closure, and structured fit. With a slick cashmere scarf tucked inside, you’ll look great in any weather.
Hestra
Nothing ruins a clean winter look like bulky gloves. That’s where Hestra comes in.
Hestra is a Swedish family-owned company that has been around since 1936, passing along the traditional craft of glove making on for four generations. A brand that cares deeply about their craft, Hestra hand cuts and finishes their gloves, using updated techniques that were established in France in the 17th century. These techniques ensure a perfect fit, eliminating extra bulk.
They use aniline leather for their gloves, which is considered among the best in the world, transformed by expert tanners and and dyed all the way through. Lined in lambskin from New Zealand, these gloves are remarkably warm.
