Fall/Winter 2026 at The Helm: Colour, Luxury Yarns and Key Outerwear
The Helm's 2026 Edit
STYLE INSIGHTS | FALL-WINTER 2026
Fall/Winter 2026 is defined by a considered palette, richer materials and versatile layering. Grey, cream and green establish the season’s foundation, while chocolate brown emerges as a defining neutral across tailoring, knitwear and outerwear. Pops of red, subtle patterns and tactile surfaces bring contrast and depth.
From lightweight tailoring and luxury yarns to leather, shearling and technical outerwear, these are the trends and highlights shaping the season at The Helm.
Grey leads the season, appearing across tailoring, trousers, knitwear and outerwear. Its range makes it particularly effective for monochromatic dressing, where subtle variations in shade, pattern and texture create depth within a single colour story. Brunello Cucinelli’s Dark Grey Pleated Virgin Wool Trousers provide a refined foundation, while the Grey Prince of Wales Wool and Cashmere Sport Jacket introduces understated pattern without moving beyond the tonal palette.
Cream brings softness and contrast to darker fall layers. The Champagne Cashmere Polo Sweater from Brunello Cucinelli offers a warm interpretation of the colour, while Gran Sasso’s Cream Felted Cashmere Crewneck Sweater and Cream Pearl Rib-Stitch Cashmere Full-Zip Cardigan make it easy to incorporate into everyday layering.
Green completes the palette as an alternative to more expected fall neutrals. Stone Island’s Green Wool-Blend Coat gives the colour a refined outerwear application, while Polo Ralph Lauren’s Green Cable-Knit Cashmere Sweater brings it into a familiar knitwear silhouette.
Red is most effective this season when used as a deliberate accent. A single piece can bring energy to a wardrobe built around grey, cream, navy and charcoal.
Paul & Shark’s Red Corduroy Overshirt offers a relaxed way to introduce the colour, while Luigi Bianchi’s Burgundy Wool-Silk Dream Tweed Sport Jacket brings it into a more tailored setting. The key is not to build the entire look around red, but to let one well-chosen piece become the focus.
PATTERNS AND TEXTURES
Pattern remains understated for Fall/Winter 2026. Lightweight twills, subtle checks and textured weaves add interest while keeping tailoring versatile.
The latest Luigi Bianchi sport jackets explore this idea through refined checks and Dream fabrics, including the Brown Check Virgin Wool Dream Sport Jacket, Black Wool-Silk Dream Tweed Sport Jacket and Black Wool-Silk-Cashmere Check Dream Sport Jacket. Each introduces texture and pattern without overwhelming the rest of the look.
ZEGNA’s Grey Silk and Cashmere Sport Jacket offers another expression of the trend. Its silk-and-cashmere construction gives the grey cloth greater depth, allowing the material itself to become the defining detail.
LUXURY YARNS
Cashmere remains central to the season, but it is not limited to traditional sweaters. Across the collection, luxury yarns appear in polos, cardigans, outerwear and even denim, bringing softness and warmth to pieces designed for regular wear.
Gran Sasso’s cream cashmere styles provide versatile foundations for seasonal layering, while the Grey Wool and Cashmere Half-Zip Sweater from Paul & Shark offers an easy option for everyday dressing. Ralph Lauren Purple Label adds further depth through its Grey Wool Sweater and Navy Wool Sweater, bringing the brand’s refined approach to familiar knitwear silhouettes.
Blended yarns are equally important. By combining cashmere with wool, cotton or silk, brands can introduce softness and warmth without losing structure or everyday durability.
Richard J. Brown applies this idea directly to denim. Its Grey Cashmere-Blend Regular-Fit Jeans, Navy Milano Cashmere-Blend Jeans and Dark Brown Cashmere-Blend Jeans retain the familiar structure of a five-pocket jean while offering a softer, warmer feel suited to the colder months.
Outerwear is one of the clearest highlights of Fall/Winter 2026, with options ranging from technical down jackets to refined wool coats and adaptable overshirts.
Moncler joins The Helm this season, bringing its distinctive approach to technical outerwear and cold-weather dressing.
The Black Maya 70 Hooded Short Down Jacket and Olive Green Maya 70 Hooded Short Down Jacket introduce the brand through one of its most recognizable silhouettes. The White Zip-Up Sherpa Jacket offers a softer alternative that can function as either a substantial mid-layer or a lighter outerwear piece.
Together, the collection brings technical performance, refined construction and a distinctive visual identity to the season’s outerwear selection.
LEATHER AND SHERLING
Leather and shearling are bringing greater depth and texture to outerwear this season. Rather than relying on bold colour or excessive detailing, these pieces make their impact through the character of the materials themselves.
Brunello Cucinelli’s Stone Beige Waxed Shearling Safari Jacket is one of the season’s standout pieces. Its warm neutral colour softens the rugged character of the waxed leather, while the safari-inspired construction makes it easy to wear over both knitwear and more refined layers.
Stone Island’s Black Ghost Suede Shearling Jacket approaches the category from a darker perspective. Its tonal construction creates a clean, understated look, while the contrast between suede and shearling gives the jacket depth.
Together, these pieces show why leather and shearling remain relevant: they provide warmth and durability, but also bring character to a wardrobe in a way few other materials can.
THE OVERSHIRT AS OUTERWEAR
The overshirt is taking on a larger role in the fall wardrobe because it offers more flexibility than a conventional jacket. Wear it as outerwear early in the season, layer it under a coat as temperatures drop, and easily adapt it from casual to more polished outfits.
Brunello Cucinelli’s Denim Overshirt brings a refined finish to a familiar workwear silhouette, while Paul & Shark’s Light Brown and Red Corduroy Overshirts introduce seasonal texture and colour. Stone Island’s Nylon Metal Overshirt offers a more technical interpretation of the category.
For us, the best overshirts are not simply heavier shirts. They are practical alternatives to a jacket and some of the most useful layering pieces of the season.
EVERYDAY ESSENTIALS FROM PAUL & SHARK
Not every seasonal piece needs to make a statement. Paul & Shark focuses on the practical layers that make a fall wardrobe work from day to day.
The Navy Waterproof Stretch Parka provides dependable protection for colder, unpredictable weather. The Light Brown Corduroy Overshirt introduces seasonal texture in an easy layering piece, while the Beige Corduroy Chino Pants complete the story with a versatile alternative to denim.
These are the pieces designed to be worn repeatedly throughout the season: practical, comfortable and easy to combine with the rest of the collection.
