A Look Back on 2018

Well, friends, it's the end of another year, and what a year it was. We made some of our boldest moves yet, and we made some great memories doing it. Take a look at a few of our favourite moments of 2018.

❄️ LAUNCHING OUR COLD WEATHER COLLECTION BY PRIVATE WHITE V.C.

🗽 BUYING TRIPS IN NEW YORK

We were fortunate to have travelled to New York a few times this year, meeting with new friends and old to bring back the best goods to The Helm. We introduced tons of new brands in 2018, like A.P.C., Vuarnet, and Danner, and we've got even more in store for 2019.

🇬🇧 TOURING MANCHESTER WITH THE PRIVATE WHITE TEAM

In preparation for our Cold Weather Collection, we headed to Manchester to check out Private White's factory. After the tour, they took us out on the town. Thanks for the hospitality, gents!

💼 HOSTING SOME OF EDMONTON'S FINEST YOUNG PROFESSIONALS FOR OUR STYLIN' 9-5 EVENT

We welcomed some fine young gents to the store for an educational event this summer, which focused on the foundations of a professional wardrobe. Take a look at some of the tips we offered up here.

🍩 INTERVIEWING MATT AND SIMON OF DOUGHNUT PARTY FOR OUR HELMSMEN SERIES

We had so much fun spending the day with Matt and Simon, whose bright, positive energy is reflected well in Doughnut Party's colourful and joyful branding. You can check out the Helmsmen with Matt and Simon episode here.

🎨 HOLDING AN ART SHOW WITH OUR FRIEND GLEN RONALD

We got to interview artist Glen Ronald for one of our Helmsmen episodes earlier this year. This summer, we welcomed him back for an art show. It was a great evening full of friends, food, and fabulous art.

🌄SHOOTING IN BEAUTIFUL MONTANA

To photograph FW18 and our Cold Weather Collection, we packed our bags and headed to Erik's Ranch in Montana. It was even more stunning than we could have imagined.

🍋 FUNDRAISING FOR THE MUSTARD SEED WITH OUR HELMONADE STAND

We set up our Helmonade stand a couple times this year during the City Market on 104th Street. Not only did we get to spend some time in the sun and see lots of happy faces, we also raised nearly $1000 for The Mustard Seed!

🇮🇹 HOSTING ANGELO ZENGA AND ANDREA BENEDINI OF LUIGI BIANCHI MANTOVA

It was such a pleasure to have Angelo and Andrea of Luigi Bianchi Mantova here with us in the fall for our Made in Italy event. We talked about the trends, fits, and fabrics for the upcoming seasons, and we might have shared a bottle of wine or two while we were at it.

💃 HELPING OUT WITH THE EDMONTON DOWN SYNDROME SOCIETY'S FASHION SHOW

We had the pleasure of providing clothing for the Edmonton Down Syndrome Society's "Uniquely Me" fashion show again this year. We had such a blast!
