It started with a necktie and grew into one of America’s most iconic fashion brands: Ralph Lauren has just celebrated their 50th anniversary, and what a celebration it was.
With a star-studded invite list (including Kanye West, Hillary Clinton, Calvin Klein, and Oprah), the event filled Central Park in New York City with signature themes from Ralph Lauren’s 50 years of fashion. We’re sure our invite got lost in the mail.
Ralph Lauren’s designs have always intrigued us. His collections speak to aspects of North American life in a way that is both refined and realistic. He eschewed the European standards of fashion and focused on what was right in front of him in the USA: Hollywood, cowboys, Wall Street, sports, and of course the American flag itself.

Ralph Lauren himself was recently honoured with a Member’s Salute by the Council of Fashion Designers of America for his impact on American style. This is just one of of his endless other accolades--including being presented the key to the City of New York.
Throughout their 50 years, Ralph Lauren has certainly had some iconic fashion moments. Nearly every First Lady since the 1970s has donned Ralph Lauren’s designs, not to mention most A-list celebrities on the red carpet. Their clothing has been featured in classic films, including 1974’s The Great Gatsby and 1977’s Annie Hall.
Ralph Lauren also has a significant footprint in the sporting world. Not only were they the official outfitter of Wimbledon in 2006, they have also been Team USA’s official outfitter since the 2008 Olympics.
We are excited to be featuring new items by Ralph Lauren Polo this season, in which we can see some of his classic influences, like western wear and Gatsby-esque pinstripes. Take a look at what we’ve got online, or stop in to see us in person.
