Brax has a history that dates back over 125 years, but that doesn’t stop them from innovating at every turn. Known best for making high-quality pants that always fit well and feel great, they’ve committed to ongoing improvement in every area of their business. It’s probably why they’re one of our best selling pants.
Brax was founded by Bernward Leineweber, a master tailor in Berlin. In 1888, he switched gears to open a ready-to-wear men’s clothing store. He crafted quality garments that could be worn on bicycles and even to drive a vehicle, if you were lucky enough to own one back then.
The business shifted over the next couple decades, as most did, through the wars and The Great Depression. After the ups and downs of the early 1900s, they introduced their new trouser brand, BRAX, in 1950. Described as “The Trousers of Progress” because of their groundbreaking fits and technical advances, they became an instant hit and featured Germany’s very first trousers with zippers.

They’ve continued to innovate ever since, using digital tech to produce their patterns and to guarantee a perfect fit every time.
Pants you can feel good in
They’ve got a goal of making pants you can feel good in, and that’s exactly what they do. The styling is contemporary yet timeless, they feel incredible against the skin, and they incorporate a ton of stretch (hello work-from-home uniform). They’re also durable and machine washable, making them a great wash-and-go choice.
Social and environmental responsibility is also integral to their operations, so you can feel good about wearing them, too. They’ve joined the amfori Business Social Compliance Initiative, which monitors and improves global working conditions for businesses all across the supply chain. They work hard to minimize the resources they use in the production of their products and to reduce the number of chemicals used in the process.
They use cotton from The Cotton Made in Africa Initiative, which aims to improve the living conditions of cotton farmers in Sub-Saharan Africa. They also partner with the Seaqual Initiative to support ocean clean-up activities and the upcycling of marine litter, and they use organic, sustainably sourced cotton and Tencel in their products.
Crossover styling
Beyond comfort, convenience, fit, and durability, one more reason they are so popular is that they can be worn for just about any occasion. They’re dressier than jeans and even most chinos, thanks to their clean fit, but they’re super easy to dress down, too.
You can wear them with a sport jacket to the office or out on the town, or you can throw them on with a hoodie and a bomber for weekend errands. Once you get a pair, you’ll likely find yourself going back for more season after season because they’re just so universal.
From their contemporary styling and tech-forward manufacturing processes to their commitment to social and environmental responsibility, Brax really is the brand that does it all. Take a look at our collection of Brax pants.
